Michael is a highly experienced hospitality, accommodation, and tourism professional with over 35 years of industry experience in Australia. He is the Principal of CF Global, a boutique consultancy and import agency that specialises in business and capacity building through cost-effective and operational efficiencies and international procurement.

Michael's career has seen him manage a number of hotels for the Austotel Group and the Swan Brewery. He was also the lessee and General Manager of the historic Castle Hotel in York for over a decade before joining the international hotel chain Best Western in 2002 as their Regional Manager for WA/SA/NT.

In 2006, Michael joined the Hospitality Group of companies as their Group General Manager and Director of its subsidiary, the Eco Company Pty Ltd. The Eco Company was engaged to open and operate the multi-award-winning Karijini Eco Retreat on behalf of the Gumala Aboriginal Corporation in the magnificent Karijini National Park, previously the Hamersley Ranges, located 1400 km North of Perth in Western Australia. As the Pre-opening General Manager for the Karijini Eco Retreat, Michael oversaw the successful launch and operation of the retreat, highlighting his expertise in pre-opening operations, sustainable tourism practices, and successful management of hospitality businesses in unique and remote locations.

Michael also acted as the Pre-opening General Manager for The Terrace Hotel, a boutique 5-star hotel in Perth. His experience with The Terrace Hotel showcases his expertise in pre-opening operations and the successful management of high-end hospitality businesses along with international procurement.

Michael has also consulted with a number of organizations and businesses, including hotels, pubs, restaurants, holiday parks, local government, Aboriginal groups, and corporations, relating to sustainable tourism, tourism & destination marketing, destination development, product distribution, operational management, audit, procurement and sourcing, infrastructure requirements, and new projects. He has also performed relief management services for various hospitality businesses.

In addition to his consulting work, Michael has been a representative on numerous national, state, and regional tourism and industry bodies, including AHAWA, Australia’s Northwest, FACET & ATEC. He is a current non-executive director of Ecotourism Australia, President of Skal International Perth and a former deputy chair of the Coeliac Society of WA, and a board member of Coeliac Australia. Michael also worked in a senior role with the Caravan Industry Association Western Australia.
